Dallas weather is classified as humid subtropical. Situated in a region open to influences from warm, dry winds blowing in from the north and west, Dallas weather is characterized by the high temperatures it experiences during its summer season; while frequently remaining well over 100 °F (38 °C), they occasionally soar to a sizzling 117 °F (47 °C).

Winters in Dallas are mild with daytime temperature averages ranging between 55 °F (13 °C) and 70 °F (21 °C), dropping to lows between 35 °F (2 °C) and 50 °F (10 °C) during night time, occasionally plummeting bellow freezing point when "Blue Northers" passes through the city. A strong cold front, "Blue Northers" keeps Dallas under wraps for a few days at a time, effectively obstructing temperatures from surpassing 40 °F (4 °C). However, it’s not rare for the winter period in Dallas to experience daytime high temperatures above 65 °F (18 °C), a phenomenon that thanks to Texas interior location, is observed more frequently here than along the Pacific and Atlantic coasts. Dallas experiences snowfall for around two to three days per year for an annual average of 2.4 inches. Moreover, a couple of times per year the city falls under the spell of freezing rain, that’s caused by the warm and humid air from the south overriding cold, dry air.

Although occasionally volatile, Dallas weather during the spring season remains predominantly fine and pleasant. However, when cool fronts moving south from Canada collide with warm, humid air streaming in from the Gulf Coast the city experiences severe thunderstorms characterized by lighting, torrential rain and hail, occasionally turning to tornadoes.

Autumn follows similar patterns to those characterising Dallas weather during the spring season. As a general rule though, autumn weather is rarely penetrated by major storms.
